FREE PUBLIC PARKING & BUS SERVICE

Coupeville offers the visitor a place to park your car for free and take a short stroll into the historic downtown where visitors will find fine dining and casual restaurants, coffee, charming shops, the Island County Museum and the historic Coupeville Wharf.

Parking is free at the lot adjacent to the the Coupeville Library off Alexander Street, and offers public restrooms as well as electric car charging stations. Free parking is also available on Main Street at the Island Transit Park and Ride. Island Transit provides services throughout Whidbey Island - for free!

DIRECTIONS TO THE ISLAND

Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve is in Central Whidbey Island. The island is easily accessible from the mainland by vehicle via Washington State Route 20 from Burlington and aboard Washington State Ferries from either Mukilteo or Port Townsend. FREE Public Parking can be found at the Island Transit Park and Ride on Main Street, or in downtown Coupeville next to the Library on Alexander Street.

The Reserve is a unique conservation partnership, and nearly 85% of the land here is privately owned. Most of the historic homes are residence, and the fields are part of an active, working farm landscape. you can help support the community by respecting private property.

Getting To and From the Reserve

From the Mainland: Access is via State Route 20 over the Deception Pass Bridge, travelling south through Oak Harbor to Coupeville. Turn left to head into the town of Coupeville at the stop light. The Chamber of Commerce visitor center is at 905 NW Alexander Street, Coupeville, WA 98239 (the old fire house).

By Ferry:

> From Seattle, take the Mukilteo-Clinton Ferry to Clinton and drive State Route 525 directly up the island. SR 525 becomes State Route 20. When you’ve reached the traffic light on SR 20, you’ve reached the heart of Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve. Turn right to head into the town of Coupeville. The Chamber of Commerce visitor center is at 905 NW Alexander Street (the old fire house).

> From the Olympic Peninsula, take the Port Townsend-Coupeville ferry - RESERVATIONS ARE RECOMMENDED. Once you’ve landed, proceed north on SR 20 to the town of Coupeville, you’ve reached the heart of Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve. Turn right to head into the town of Coupeville. Visitor Information is available t the Coupeville Chamber of Commerce visitor center at 905 NW Alexander Street (the old fire house) and at the Island County Historical Museum at 908 Alexander Street.

Public Transportation: Island Transit bus service is FREE on Whidbey Island, which runs from Clinton on the south end, to Deception Pass State Park on the north end.

Airport Shuttle: Whidbey Sea-Tac Shuttle offers service between the communities on Whidbey Island, Sea-Tac Airport, and Paine Field Airport.

FREE Public Parking: Available 7 days a week in downtown Coupeville on Alexander Street (adjacent to the Coupeville Library) and on W. Main St. at the Island Transit Park & Ride lot.

Visiting Hours

The Reserve is over 85% privately owned, contains three Washington State Parks, and the historic town of Coupeville. There are no hours or fees for visiting the Reserve, however individual businesses and the state parks within the Reserve set their own hours. Visits to state parks do require a Discover Pass.

Jacob and Sarah Ebey House — The historic Jacob and Sarah Ebey House and the Ebey Blockhouse are open to the public during the summer months, Memorial Day through Labor Day, Fridays through Sundays, from 10am to 4pm.

The Cottage at Sunnyside – Located on Jacob Ebey’s original donation land claim (called Sunnyside), the administrative office of the Trust Board is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 4:00pm. Located at 162 Cemetery Rd., Coupeville, WA 98239 - behind Sunnyside Cemetery.

The Coupeville Chamber of Commerce is the official visitor center in the Reserve. In addition to the Chamber, there are several visitor centers and ranger stations operated by our partners where you can get help in planning your visit.
